"In terms of design, I am inspired by the natural world and the motifs of indigenous cultures, particularly those from Europe. But I'm not limited extensively by tradition. In creating contemporary interpretations of classic motifs, I use a fabrication technique common in the American Southwest. I start with sheet metal which is cut and formed into a ring. A sheet of "royal yellow" 18K gold is soldered on to silver, which is then is subsequently oxidized. The dark behind the gold serves as a contrasting element to bring out the design." more

Paulina Ramirez is an international jewelry designer, having studied art in a wide range of cultural milieus. She was born in Santiago, Chili, where she worked at a young age under the tutelage of some of the most famous Chilean jewelers, developing a reputation for refined and exquisite metal work. In her older designs, you can still see the influence of the Spanish and tribal art, a neo-techno fusion of craftsmanship where even the most outlandish and contemporary forms can be traced back to the influences of her specific native terra firma. more

Michelangelo Stanchi was born into a highly regarded jeweler family in Valenza, a town in Italy renowned for its jewelry. His grandfather on his mother's side, Oreste Staurino, imported fine gems from around the world. His father's father, Francesco Stanchi, was a gold jewelry designer whose reputation in Valenza was legendary. As a child, Michelangelo grew up with stories from the village about Francesco's beautiful creations. The elderly women would show him their wedding sets made when they were young brides. more
